I'm SO excited to let my reader(s) (hi Mom!) know that we have a match! As I mentioned in earlier posts, one of the people that signed up at the Ridgefield drive back in June has been undergoing testing to see if the bone marrow donation could proceed. I'm very pleased to let you know that this person has been matched to a patient! The procedure will take place during the week of October 18th. As the family member of someone who received an anonymous donation, I can only imagine what the recipient's family is feeling right now!
I want to again extend my thanks to all involved in the drive - what you did that day in June MATTERED:
- Chris M. of the Be the Match organization
- First Congregational Church of Ridgefield and Mrs. Wein
- My AWESOME friends and volunteers: Marabeth, Jen, Dina, Kirstin, Karin, Kristen, Jen & Cary
- All people who signed up that day
I find it so interesting, too, that today is Mahatma Gandhi's birthday (thanks Google!). One of the quotes I've had posted as I've worked on this blog and other efforts has been his: "You must be the change you wish to see in the world."
